This Pontiac Grand Prix is a super strong, surprisingly quick luxury US muscle car. It was a serious muscle car before the muscle car label was used. The Grand Prix is a pillarless coupe with beautiful proportions, featuring long, sharp, straight lines, stacked headlights and hidden taillights. It gets up and goes. 1) ENGINE: Tricked up factory 389ci V8: • completely restored/rebuilt tri-power carburettors (3 x 2BBLs), • rare, restored Pontiac dual-snorkel tri-power air cleaner. • Heads are slightly milled, thinner-than-stock head gaskets used and a quality valve job performed. • A performance cam installed, with new HD lifters. • Late-model, long branch exhaust manifolds installed with the “collector” area bored out to 2 ½”, to match the exhaust system. • Petronix ignition system with a custom advance curve. 2) TRANSMISSION: • Fully rebuilt, original 3-speed “Slim-Jim” Roto-Hydramatic (less than 1000 miles) by a Californian transmission shop specializing in performance work. Governor valve was shimmed for firmer shifts. Changes very smoothly. Some call this tranny a 4 speed (look up ' Slim Jim' ). 3) EXHAUST SYSTEM: • 2 ½”pipe Flowmaster system, with Flowmaster mufflers and with an X-Pipe. Has a nice muscle-car sound, but isn’t excessively loud. 4) POWER STEERING: • Power steering box was replaced with a later-model, quick-ratio box. Power steering hoses and idler arm recently replaced. 5) BODY: • Laser straight body. Factory colour saddle bronze two-pack paint work is about a decade old, but in excellent condition with a great shine. Completely rust free across all panels and underside. It’s ready to show. 6) SHOCKS: • All 4 corners are quality HD gas shocks. 7) TIRES: • quality recent Goldline radials, with virtually no discernable tread wear. See pics—the Goldlines are just striking with the gold paint. 8) “8-LUGS”: • The best set of 8-lugs you will ever see. Polished fins, restored and polished trim-rings and centre caps, and new chrome lug nuts. These are highly sought after and worth a packet. 9) MILEAGE: • While no documentation is available, the shown mileage of 72, 500 is believed to be original. All visible wear patterns are consistent with this very low mileage. 10) REAR END: • Recently fitted with 3.64:1 gears (New ring and pinion) in the Pontiac “SAFE-T-TRAK” (limited slip) differential. 11) TACHOMETER: • In addition to the stock vacuum gauge, car features a rare and desirable dash-mount Pontiac tachometer. 12) INTERIOR/BOOT: • original black leatherette. Seats are original, showing only very light wear. Carpets, headliner, and door panels are new. • Boot professionally carpeted in recent weeks. 13) TRUNK LIGHT: • original, optional, pull-out light with a 25’ cord 14) CHROME: • bumpers, headlight bezels and miscellaneous small parts were all recently re-chromed. • stainless trim has been polished. 15) ACCESSORIES: • All interior gauges, lights and power windows work as they should. •
